What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the diagnosis and treatment of joint, nerve and muscle problems. It is mainly focused on the spine and how this affects your nervous system. Your chiropractor will treat you by gently manipulating the joints to ease stiffness, pain and improve mobility. He will also suggest ways you can improve your recovery, including exercises, postural corrections and dietary advice to optimise your health, which will reduce your chances of recurrence. Chiropractic aims to treat the cause rather than the symptoms, and helps your body to heal itself.

What to Expect

Your first visit includes a full consultation and treatment. The consultation consists of a detailed medical history and lifestyle factors such as exercise, stress and diet. This is followed by a comprehensive physical examination. Based on these findings, your chiropractor will decide if an X-Ray or MRI scan are necessary before treatment (gentle manipulation of the joints) begins.
The cause of your complaint, how to resolve it, and how long that'll take will be explained to you. You'll also be advised of the likelihood of a recurrence, and any need for ongoing supportive care.

Your chiropractor may also use other techniques including ice, heat, massage and specific exercises. We welcome questions about your treatment. If chiropractic is not suitable for you, we'll let you know. It may be appropriate to refer you to another practitioner in the clinic or your GP.

Your Chiropractor, Dr David Evans

Dr David EvansDavid was first introduced to chiropractic at the age of 18, after experiencing an episode of low back pain. The excellent care and superb results of chiropractic left a lasting impression on him, so much so, that he decided to train as a chiropractor himself.

David is a full member of the British Chiropractic Association, and the European Chiropractic Union. He was also awarded the Doctor of Chiropractic qualification and is state registered with the General Chiropractic Council.

David is an enthusiastic sportsman, having been a competitive swimmer as a teenager. He has a keen interest in rehabilitation and how it can improve your quality of life by getting you stronger, fitter, and better able to cope with work and everyday activities.

David has treated patients with a wide range of complaints including back pain, leg pain, sciatica, neck pain, arm pain, frozen shoulder, trapped nerves, headaches, whiplash and sports injuries, with excellent, long-lasting results.
